Is it worth the time/money?

I have a pretty minimal routine for day to day, but sometimes for the weekends or special occasions I try to do a full face of makeup and my hair. It's takes a lot of time and I feel like it doesn't turn out the way that I want it to. I'm not sure at this point if it's my products, my techniques or my lack of practice. Going to Ulta and Sephora are really overwhelming and I'd hate to waste money trying things that don't work. I'm also getting older and in a weird place where I'm wondering if it's worth it to try to invest in beauty or just let it go. I guess for the women who spend the hours on skincare/makeup/hair, is it worth it?
