Have you ever cut a group-trip short and why?
I was chatting to my girlfriend and somehow we landed on this topic. She seemed in disbelief that someone would cut a paid-for trip, unless for emergency reasons, because I have.
For context, I had cut a group trip before with a group of friends; we had hired a car and due to tensions within the group, the driver decided to stop on the side of a motorway for a couple hours until we all apologised to him. I apologised to get home, but felt that this was a complete power trip on his behalf and booked my flight home that day. I ended up about £200 out of pocket but for me it was money well spent.
My girlfriend said she would have tried to enjoy the rest of the trip but I could not imagine pretending that the trip is salvageable at that point lol. the best thing for me would have been to leave.
Have you ever just had to leave and wrap up a trip?
Edit: just answering a couple questions that keep cropping up. the argument we had was silly, but I was not the only aggrieved party by no means. I did not hold up the rest of the friend trip for that long lol, it was mostly the argument (of which everyone in the car had a strong opinion about) took ages to resolve. I was admittedly the longest to apologise but only by like a few minutes, not the few hours of the argument itself (which I was not even the main debater). Several of us stopped contacting the main guy (the driver) after but I was the only one who just went home.
