Lyon or Friedberg im Breisgau?

I'm going to be on tour in Europe with my band and we have an extra day off between shows. We're trying to between spending more time in France with a stop in Lyon, or heading to Germany and staying in Friedberg im Breisgau. Has anyone traveled to one or both places? What did you think of each community? Thanks!
