Eyelashes growing in different directions?

My eyelashes tend to grow in different directions. This drives me crazy because they either bunch together/get tangled and feel heavy, or stab me in the eye. I’m prone to getting styes and ingrown lashes (once on the inside of my lower lid that had to be removed by an ophthalmologist).

Is there anything I can do to make them more cooperative? They don’t respond well to an eyelash curler, and they just kind of clump together if I use mascara.

I am cosmetics naive but willing to try anything, please help.
