Framing pieces look severely damaged??

I’ve always had long layers in my hair for years and the framing pieces have always looked somewhat damaged but now it looks a lot worse and it’s so see through, the way it lays down doesn’t look good at all. I just got a hair trim a few months ago, I got 3 inches taken off. I always get a straight cut with face framing layers but I make sure they don’t get cut as short. I don’t know what to do. I’m thinking about just getting it all straight cut with no layers at all, but then that won’t take care of the current damaged layers unless I was to get the layers cut even shorter. Can anyone suggest me what I should do??? I’ve been taking really good care of my hair and trying to grow it out long, but the layer pieces are just a pain in an a**.
