Northern Lights in Europe middle of October 2027
Hello from Berlin,
some backround: I come back to a problem or a question that bothers me for a long time. I already gave up because I thought there is no solution: My son (almost 14) is very much into astronomy and even more into northern lights which he is desperately longing to see. Yesterday he was so sad when I told him again that I do not want to take the risk.
The main problem: the dates of the Berlin school holidays that do not fit quite well and our fear of spending a lot of money for sitting in the house for ten days because of bad weather, which, as much as I understood can be a real problem at Tromso (my husband is a trailrunner and if he is forced to sit in the house without running through beautiful nature it is almost as bad as a teenager not seeing the northern lights for ten nights:-)).
The school holidays that might fit the best are in 2027 from 9th to 23rd of October or 2028 at the beginning of October (but already with less sun activity, when I understand right). So I am looking for more cloud free options than Tromso (more far from the sea, less mountains etc.) that might be reached quite well by plane and rented car from Berlin for middle (2027) or beginning (2028) of October. Could be Norway, Sweden, Finnland, Iceland...
I really appreciate your patience while reading and hope for some suggestions.
Have a nice day and kind regards
Eva
