help with route and thirst for adventure

Hi all, my gf and i had a two month backpacking trip planned that would take us through nepal, kyrgyzstan and finish meeting a friend in sri lanka. Our 1.5 months in nepal and kyrgyzstan we were very excited to spend our time doing some tough trekking and feel like we’re really exploring.

Kyrgyzstan in particular we were very excited for to get off the beaten path and do 2 weeks of solo hiking and back country camping.

We are travelling from Australia. Our flight from nepal to kyrgyzstan we have just realised will route us via dubai or the united arab emirates which i am not comfortable with in the current political climate. There are no direct flights. We can route through turkey and china however that blows our budget out of proportion and still feels potentially risky without being able to see into the future.

I’ve discovered there are no real land routes to get there either.

Wondering what in this part of the world anyone might recommend to get off the beaten path while remaining relatively safe. We are very interested in multi day treks where we can free camp, i personally have never camped in the jungle but am open to any recommendations.

Kyrgyzstan was our most anticipated part of the trip (i learnt russian haha!) so looking forward to finding something great to replace that leg with. We have 2-3 weeks to fill and must leave from nepal. It will be June. We are very fit with good trekking experience but little high altitude experience.

We’re on a backpackers budget but could spend up to $100 AUD per day at a maximum for two weeks.

cheers!

(please note as well that i am extremely aware the inconvenience of not being able to holiday in a country is a very privileged issue to have, and pales against the horrors currently happening in countries affected by war, and the people starving and dying as we speak. I hope my question won’t be perceived as insensitive to the greater picture of our route change.)
