My SD card was completely empty mid-trip… and somehow it was fine

This happened on a flight right before a big trip.

I let my little nephew play with my camera for a bit. Thought it was harmless button mashing. A few hours later at the hotel, I pop the SD card into the camera to review shots from the past few weeks and… "NO IMAGES."

Completely empty. My stomach just dropped. A few years ago I would've had a full-blown meltdown right there.

Thankfully, I remembered I'd been auto-backing everything up to my NAS at home. I opened the app on my phone with shaky hands, scrolled through the folders… and every single photo was there. I just copied the files back to another card and kept shooting like nothing happened.

I never really thought much about it until that moment. It was just a small dxp2800 box under my desk handling my backups. And man, I was very glad it existed.

Curious if anyone else has had that "oh my god it's gone… wait, backup saved it" moment. Did it change how you handle cards and storage after?
