I Just Tried Hailey Bieber's Hack for Glowing Skin, and I've Never Had More Compliments

The pursuit of luminous skin has long been a cornerstone of aspirational beauty, and the current fervor surrounding Hailey Bieber’s skincare “hack” – seemingly a combination of strategic product layering and a commitment to hydration – is a potent illustration of celebrity influence within the beauty landscape. It's a phenomenon that speaks to a broader shift: consumers are increasingly seeking attainable, yet elevated, routines inspired by those whose style they admire. While the proliferation of skincare trends driven by social media can often feel fleeting and performative, Bieber's sustained appeal and carefully curated brand, Rhode, lend a sense of credibility to her recommendations. Her approach isn't about radical transformations or overnight miracles; rather, it’s about cultivating a consistently healthy and radiant complexion through considered choices, a philosophy perfectly aligned with the values of effortless elegance we champion. Consider, for instance, the importance of foundational pieces in building a polished look, much like a strong skincare routine underpins flawless makeup—a concept echoed in our recent exploration of If You Like Rich-Looking White Jeans Outfits, Skip Sandals and Pair Denim With This Closed-Toe Alt. Both highlight the power of intentionality and a focus on enduring style over fleeting trends.

The success of Bieber’s skincare line, and the subsequent replication of her routines, underscores a desire for accessible luxury within the beauty space. Consumers aren't necessarily seeking complex, multi-step regimens; they’re drawn to products that deliver visible results with a streamlined approach. This aligns with the broader cultural emphasis on efficiency and maximizing impact – a sensibility that extends beyond skincare and permeates various aspects of modern lifestyle. The focus on hydration, in particular, resonates with a growing understanding of skin health's importance, moving away from purely cosmetic concerns towards a more holistic approach. Furthermore, the constant conversation around accessible luxury is a direct counterpoint to the often-exclusive world of high-end beauty, creating a space where consumers can participate in a curated experience without exorbitant price tags. It's a strategy that leans into the concept of attainable aspiration, mirroring the way we approach fashion—prioritizing quality and timelessness over chasing every fleeting trend, as demonstrated in our recent style exploration of Not Into Flip-Flops? This Closed-Toe Alternative Makes Jeans Look Chicer.

The attention given to Bieber's routine isn't simply about achieving glowing skin; it's about participating in a cultural moment and aligning oneself with a specific aesthetic. The visibility of her skincare rituals, shared through social media and meticulously documented by beauty editors, creates a sense of familiarity and aspiration. It blurs the lines between personal life and public persona, allowing consumers to feel as though they are gaining access to a privileged world. This phenomenon highlights the increasing convergence of beauty, lifestyle, and celebrity culture. The curated nature of these routines, presented as effortless and attainable, is a key element of their appeal. It’s a carefully constructed narrative that speaks to a desire for a simpler, more elegant approach to beauty, one that prioritizes confidence and a natural radiance above all else. We've seen a similar phenomenon manifest within the luxury market, where consumers are increasingly seeking authenticity and a deeper connection with brands—a value that transcends mere product ownership, as evidenced by the desire for exclusive experiences and personalized service, as showcased by Never Skip Love Luxury p1 @LoveLuxury #loveluxury #shorts #hermes #shoppingvlog.

Looking ahead, the continued influence of celebrity skincare routines like Bieber’s will likely reshape the beauty industry, encouraging brands to prioritize transparency, efficacy, and a streamlined consumer experience. The emphasis on attainable luxury and holistic skin health is likely to persist, pushing brands to focus on ingredient innovation and personalized solutions. The question remains: will this trend lead to a more democratized beauty landscape, or will it simply create new tiers of aspiration, with consumers chasing increasingly exclusive routines? The answer likely lies in the ability of brands to offer genuine value and transparency, fostering a deeper connection with consumers beyond the fleeting allure of celebrity endorsements.

If there's one celebrity I'd love to sit down with and quiz all about their skincare and makeup routines, it's Hailey Bieber. Known for her radiant complexion, I think about her glowy makeup daily. When she launched Rhode back in 2022, you best believe I raced to checkout to get my hands on her go-to skincare products. Whilst they have dramatically improved my skin's appearance, I'm still desperately searching for something to create that "glazed" finish when doing my daily makeup routine. Enter Rhode's brand-new Highlight Milk.

Alongside the viral Pocket Bronze, Rhode's summer collection includes the sought-after Highlight Milk, a shimmery take on the brand's popular Glazing Milk. Designed to be used on top of your skincare (and under your SPF), it can be worn alone or mixed with your favourite foundation or skin tint to add a radiant finish.

Ever since getting my hands on this product, my makeup game has been taken up a notch. In fact, I've had multiple comments on how glowy my complexion looks, and if that's not a sign to treat yourself to the Highlight Milk, then I don't know what is. Keep scrolling for my full review...

The Formula

Whilst I like to use this to amp up my makeup, it's a skincare product through and through. Made with the brand's Glazing Milk formula, it has a lightweight, milky texture and is packed with ceramides, vitamin E and glycerin to hydrate and boost the skin's barrier.

Even if you don't have particularly dry skin, I personally think this is a great addition to your skincare routine, as it adds an extra level of glow and hydration. As someone with relatively oily skin, I've never found the formula too thick or greasy.

The Shades

The key thing separating this product from the original Glazing Milk is the subtle, pearlescent shimmer. There are four shades available, from a pearly pink to a rich bronze. Shades 01 and 02 are described as sheer, milky bases, whereas shades 03 and 04 have added tints for a warm glow.

At the moment, I'm using shade 02; however, during the winter months, I can see myself switching to 01 for my everyday makeup look.

The Application

What I love about the Highlight Milk is how versatile it is. There are so many ways to use it, but let me talk you through a few of my favourites. If I'm having a "no makeup" makeup day, I apply this all over the skin before going in with concealer and a bit of cream bronzer. Just using these three products makes a huge difference to my complexion, and it's actually the makeup look that earns me the most compliments on my skin.

However, if I feel like getting a bit dressed up and want a matching makeup look, I mix a few drops of this into my foundation, and the results are always 10/10. Oh, and a top tip that I took straight from the Rhode website? Mix with your body lotion or apply directly to your arms, chest and legs for the most beautiful body shimmer.

The Results

Honestly? I can't get enough of this product. I've tried countless illuminating primers, but what I love about this is that the glow looks completely natural. Yes, it's described as shimmery, but I actually think it adds a subtle luminosity that would trick anyone into thinking you follow a very strict, 20-step skincare routine (my actual routine is more like cleanser, serum and moisturiser).

What I love about Hailey's makeup is that it never looks too "done". Instead, she's all about letting your skin shine through, and now that I've got my hands on the Highlight Milk, I feel like I can finally recreate her signature look. If you want non-stop compliments this summer, I'd say this is a worthwhile investment.
